Knife vs Gun: The Quick Draw Game Explained
You got a gun, I got a knife. We are in close quarters. Let's see what happens.
This is a drill that artificially manufactures extreme time constraints in a gamified platform for efficiency. Of course this is not how things play out in real life. Give it a try.

Ecological Dynamics for "Knife Fighting": Index Priority Drill Set
Переглядів 4 тис.Місяць тому
Knife attacks are intense. This game/drill set aims to manufacture this intensity in a relatively safe, repeatable and gamified way in order for coaches and students to assess performance, identify deficiencies and systematically address them. There is more to this drill than I have covered in this short video including the leadup progressions, skill development phases and the inclusion of emot...

Krav guys will do Krav things 😂 Ecological dynamics at play in this clip. The role of the coach significantly changes from “the ultimate source of knowledge” to an architect of meaningful training environments. I don’t compete with what you already train and what you’re already good at. That would be foolish. You like Krav? Let’s work with that. You enjoy Libre? Let’s go! You into FMA or Silat?...

Glossy mmagazine paper is good. The hardest test is cigarette wrapping paper, if a knife can push cut cigarette paper the blade is as sharp as a straight razor needs to be for shaving.

Right said Mr. Rubio, Avoidance of a fight scene is the best advice. Then placing some barrier betwee us, - and this is the point that deserves more attention: -- The barrier can be smaller than a container to hide or walk arouin. Some environmental weapons could be obtaine: may be a rod from the container, putting off your sweater and using it either a as a flexible block or even a slapping weapon. -- Another point is holding the knife: pointed hold is longer and more agressive, but easier to block, Accordingly, carryiing some personal items, like bags or umbrella spray, or just a towell around our neck could also come handy. Best wishes , Paul, 69 retired instructor of Karate P.s. for those more experienced: The way oh holding the knife may hel us, too: --Pointed, or forward hold looks more dangerous, but is easier to block or derail, --Reverse reverse hold is more defensive, shorter but worse to detect and even worser to block!!!. Do not try to take away knife: The old adage from Meesrs. Fairbairn and Sykes!

Another thing that helps flinchers is to show them a video of rounds leaving a pistol in slow motion. The projectile has left the barrel before the gun even moves from recoil. Therefore, there is no point trying to anticipate recoil. It will only throw off your aim.

I don’t see why the wave feature would be on anything other than a karambit. With the ring, at least have a better chance of not losing the blade as you deploy. Good points though.

0:09 that’s because people don’t know the laws and when one can, in self defense. Too quick to brandish a weapon and make threats when there was no immediate or imminent threat at that moment to do so.

It's not for everyone. User error is the biggest problem with 1911. People who understand know and trust their life and others life with the reliability and protection the 1911 gives time and time again.

There are too many people with good 1911 experiences to not expect criticisms of this video. As most have said; learn it well, take care of it, and it will serve you well. I now prefer SA/DA autos. But I would not feel unprepared carrying a 1911. Still, ultimate reliability will come from a wheel gun.

I run drills almost daily and have since I was 12 years old. I’m now 26. This is similar to what I tell people. The way I hold and present a gun completely changes when I’m running combat drills vs precision shooting. When I’m running combat drills, I drive the gun. Extremely hard grip, using my forward thumbs as a reference or if it’s a red dot, I don’t even turn it on, I just use the frame as my reference. Every single time, in my 200 round drills at 3-15 yards, while moving, I have around a 70-80% hit percentage. When I precision shoot, which is usually 200 yards with a pistol, I can’t even see my 12” steel target. I hold the gun as lightly in my hands as possible. The recoil makes it flip way up. And I have to bring it back, but the weak grip gives me stability and allows me to hold a presentation for much longer since I’ll spend a good 15-30 seconds between shots.

The action gun games aren't "gunfight training" on their own, but they definitely promote (require) building skills that are very useful in the "real world". How to hit stuff with bullets faster than bad guys can hurt you is ALWAYS going to be a useful skill "on the street". Probably the most valuable element I learned from USPSA, etc. is how good (or bad) a sight picture I really need to put the bullet where it needs to go at various ranges. A 25-yard sight picture needs to be a pretty good textbook "front sight sharp/target blurry" proposition, where a 2-yard sight picture might just be a blurry back of the slide.

I shot an AR-15 and it didn't feel comfortable. Stock felt short, even fully extended. I'm long armed, 6' 3", 300 lbs, 15EEE shoes, 3XL gloves. Butt of stock not find a place it liked. Is AR-15 just not my platform? And get into HK91 instead of HK MR556? Or auto 12 guage? I'm so bumbed out.

I agree, in actual fights there is no such thing as blocking like in a movie or anime or something, you either slip the attack or cover up to take the hit, like he said, which isn't blocking in any fancy terms, it's just protecting your face or letting them hit your shoulders instead of your face haha. In fights everything is way to fast to be deciding how to specifically block, just keep your guard up and go

I know this is an older video but yeah it's one of the better FMA videos I've seen. I practice Kali/Eskrima and yeah I love the competitions, but without filming stuff and slowing it down for people, it always looks incredibly chaotic (and often is). I think padded stick is a good compromise between full armour and live stick with limited armour (shown here), because you can still train very regularly without picking up too many major injuries, but everyone should try sparring like this at least to see how it is and to really feel what it's like to be actually fear getting hit with a live rattan stick.
